FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electroarc surface treatment of metal works in vacuum and can be used in ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, and also in machine building branch of productions. Method includes location of product in vacuum chamber, feeding on it negative potential, electrode installation over the product surface, on which it is fed positive potential, stimulation between them voltaic arc and movement of product relative to electrode or the electrode relative to product. In vacuum chamber it is created pressure in the range 10 - 10-3 mm column of mercury, it is installed interelectrode distance between the electrode and the nearest point of the product surface in the range 2.0 - 70.0 mm, which corresponds to the length of mean free path of arc plasma with mentioned range of pressure in vacuum chamber, and it is kept electric arc and specified interelectrode distance during the process of all the treatment of product's surface.
EFFECT: invention provides reduction of power inputs for surface treatment of metal works by electroarc method and improvement of treatment and productivity.
