FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: tests for the change in value of initial parameter from properties of surface and volume structure formed during manufacture of carbide cutting tool are performed. Reference wear resistance tests are executed in cutting of materials that exhibit intense adhesion wear at optimum cutting speed or that approximating thereto. Reference, i.e. correlation relationship "wear resistance - initial parameter" is plotted. The value of initial parameter of current batch of carbide cutting tools is controlled, and wear resistance for current batch of tools is predicted on the basis of the relationship. As the input parameter the value of area of hysteresis loop obtained during measurement of the elongation and further shortening of the carbide sample is used, respectively during heating and further cooling, with its increasing the wear resistance of the carbide cutting tools of applicability group K increases.
EFFECT: higher precision and lower labour input of forecast of wear resistance of carbide cutting tools.
