FIELD: radio engineering; electronics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio engineering and electronics and can be used independently for absorbing electromagnetic waves at the output of a microwave wave-guide transmission line, as well as an element of more complex functional devices: directional couplers, power combiners, measurement bridges, filters etc. The set objective reached due to that, for absorption of electromagnetic radiation in the matched load, a multilayer metal-dielectric structure with different values of thickness, permittivity and conductivity of the layers is used. The structure is put into a waveguide and completely occupies its cross section. The planes of the layers are perpendicular to the direction of propagation of electromagnetic waves. The number of layers, their thickness, permittivity and conductivity are chosen, for example, by picking out or calculation, solving the optimisation problem such that, in the chosen frequency range, values of coefficients of reflection and transmission are less than given values.
EFFECT: wider operational frequency band, smaller linear dimensions of the matched load.
