FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention is directed for increasing of wear-resistance of cutting tool coating. Method includes purification of surface successively in glow discharge, in plasma of magnetron discharge, sputtered cleaning by electroarc evaporators at heating of surface up to 300-350°C. Bottom layer of titanium is applied by means of magnetron sputtering of titanic target. Then it is applied interchanging layers of titanium nitride and zirconium nitride in gaseous mixture of inert and reacting gas. Titanium nitride layers are received by magnetron sputtering of titanic target. Zirconium nitride layers are received by electroarc evaporation of zirconium cathode. Top layer of titanium nitride and zirconium are applied, simultaneously implementing magnetron sputtering of titanic target and electroarc evaporation of zirconium cathode in gaseous mixture of inert and reacting gas. In the capacity of reacting gas it is used nitrogen. Efficiency is achieved by means of three-stage precleaning of tool surface and usage of combined method of layers application.
