FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method can be used in metallurgy for making sheet products from aluminium alloys. Sheet products are cold rolled to cold-worked condition and short-duration treatment is done and mainly repeated until obtaining sheet material with the required thickness. Surface treatment is done through radiation with an ion beam with atomic mass A≥10 amu, energy 20-40 keV, ion current density 0.1-1 mA /cm2 for a period of 5-200 s. The aluminium alloy can be an alloy of the Al-Mg system containing 5.8-6.8 wt % Mg - magnalium, Al-Cu-Mg with Mn additives - duralumin, Al-Li-Cu-Mg with containing 1.8-2.1 wt % lithium. The sheet product can be continuously and uniformly moved about the ion beam during irradiation and surface irradiation can be done simultaneously on two sides. Sheet material is obtained from aluminium alloys in a continuous cycle, without stopping the process.
EFFECT: allows for 2-3 times reduction of energy consumption and labour input of the process, as well as cut on its duration by the order of 1-2.
