FIELD: physics, measurements.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to the field of technical maintenance and operation of pressure vessels and pipelines, mostly in heat and power engineering, and serves for detection of most dangerous areas of heating utilities from the destruction point of view. Technical result is provided due to the fact that according to invention testing mode is selected so that testing pressure exceeds value of pipeline metal collapsing pressure in the period that precedes destruction moment by 1÷3 years at working pressure of pipeline sections subject to local corrosion, besides, collapsing pressure is identified by formula , where is yield point of pipeline metal, VσT is speed of pipeline metal deterioration, t is duration of pipeline operation, D is pipeline diametre, s0 is thickness of pipeline wall, vΣ is speed of total corrosion of pipeline metal, φ=0.9 is coefficient of pipeline welded seam weakening.
EFFECT: makes it possible to define the moment of pipeline destruction, to select rational testing mode, to increase resource and guarantee reliability and safety of heating utilities pipelines operation.
