PILOT SIGNALS FOR USE IN MULTISECTOR CELLS Russian patent published in 2009 - IPC H04L1/00

Abstract RU 2365043 C2

FIELD: physics; communication.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns communication technique. For this purpose pilots-signals in various sectors are transferred with various known levels of power. The pilot signal is transferred in the next sectors while no pilot signal is transferred in the adjoining sector. It represents transfer on of a zero pilot signal. Also zero-cells, at which zero pilot signals are transferred in each sector of a cell at a time, are supported. Numerous measurements of a pilot signal are carried out. At least, two values of the channel quality indicator are generated from the measurements corresponding to at least, two pilot signals of various levels of power. Two values are transferred back to base station which uses both values for determination of transfer power demanded for achievement of desired SNR in the wireless terminal. The wireless terminal also informs the information specifying its position in relation to border of a sector.

EFFECT: maintenance of numerous measurements of channel quality.
