FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to air electrodes for alkaline current sources. According to the invention, the air electrode for a chemical current source has, in the active layer, hydrophobisated acetylene black, fine dispersed catalytic "СИТ" carbon. The barrier layer contains hydrophobisated acetylene black. The method of making the electrode involves burning carbon (300°C), mixing, hydrophobisation of acetylene black and "СИТ" carbon with fluoroplastic emulsion in ratio of 25:75 vol %, pressing the double layer of porous electrode at pressure of 4000 kg/cm2 without pre-pressing.
EFFECT: improved energy characteristics.
