SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for establishing TrFO-connection between two communication terminals through a communication network. According to the invention, at least one codec mode configuration, supported by one radio network controllers (RNC1, RNC2) which take part in communication establishment, is stored in memory block (T1, T2). This information is transmitted between switching nodes (MSC1, MSC2) and is used for configuring codec mode or codec mode subset which is supported by both parties.
EFFECT: reduced interruptions in establishing communication during operation without transcoding.
