FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used on alternating current electric stock. In the reactive power compensation device a control unit generates control pulses for controlling insulated-gate bipolar transistors based on output signals of current and voltage sensors. The said control pulses are synchronised with mains frequency, and the pulse ratio is varied in proportion to voltage across the secondary winding of the traction transformer. Current flows through the capacitor, equal to reactive current flowing in the diode bridge rectifier circuit, anchor winding and exciting winding of the pulse current traction motor, but with opposite phase. As a result, mains current contains only the in-phase component of load current.
EFFECT: increased reliability and power factor on the entire control range.
