FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to field of medicine, namely to surgery and therapy. Estimation of patient's chronotropic response on swallow is carried out by pulse diagram. Duration of 2 or 3 phases of chronotropic response on swallow is determined as number of cardio-intervals (Δt) between beginning of sharp decrease of cardio-interval value (ΔRR2"уд") and moment of its quick return to background value (ΔRR2"уд"). If Δt is within interval from 3 to 5, prevailing of parasympatic tone is determined, chronotropic response is determined as acute response, if Δt is greater than 5, chronotropic response is determined as full-scale response, which is not characterised by specificity with respect to different states of vegetative balance.

EFFECT: method extends arsenal of means for determining shift of vegetative nervous system balance towards parasympaticotonia.
