FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises producing individual starting mixes representing ceramic suspensions with their solid phase containing the fractions of ceramic components with average sizes not exceeding that of applied layer. Fixtures for forming are prepared by applying permeable fibrous water-saturated substrate onto mandrel and fixing the substrate by fixers limiting workpiece sizes with due allowance for contraction caused by thermal treatment. Separate suspensions are laid in layers onto substrate to produce layers with differentiated amount and size of pores in direction of medium to be filtered. Workpiece is withdrawn from the mandrel together with fibrous substrate, dried and subjected to final thermal treatment at the temperature of rigid layer fixing. Ceramic suspensions comprises refractory graded powders from oxides, carbides, nitrides, silicides of zeolite-like compounds and mixes thereof, basalt, kaolin, mullite, quartz fibers or mixes thereof, as well as ceramic binders representing sols, gels or their precursors in the form of water soluble hydroxides, salts, metal organic and phosphate compounds.
