FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical engineering of ceramics, and more specifically to making ceramic products from material with composite fibrous structure, used as high-temperature filter elements and thermal insulation. The method of making a ceramic filter element with a fibrous structure involves dispergation of ceramic fibre to a given L/d ratio, preparation of a suspension from ceramic fibre, ceramic binding material, precipitation, drying and burning. The suspension is prepared by obtaining a colloidal solution of silicon slag in a dispersion acidic medium, addition of mullite fibre with subsequent homogenisation. Binder is added to the obtained suspension in form of a colloidal solution of an organic high-molecular compound from starch. Burning is done in the temperature interval where the alpha-tridymite modification of silica forms. The process is carried out at pH over 2.5 using silicon slag with particle size of 2 to 10 nm. The organic high-molecular binder used is cold swelling potato starch Solvitose PLV.
EFFECT: improved quality of filter element and chemical resistance in chlorine-containing media.
