SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of industrial ecology, in particular to the field of purification of hot gas from suspended particles, and can be used, for example, in metallurgy. A method for obtaining a filter element for removing particles from a gas is proposed, in which a target blank is made to obtain a filter element. The method includes stages (a), (b), (c), (d), (e) and (f). At stage (a), an aqueous molding suspension is prepared, the dispersed phase of which contains an inorganic fiber and an initial binder. At stage (b), a raw billet is obtained, where an aqueous molding suspension is passed through the forming surface so that the dispersed phase of the aqueous molding suspension is deposited on the forming surface. At stage (c), a solid billet is obtained by drying the raw billet. At stage (d), an impregnated billet is obtained, for which the solid billet is brought into contact with an aqueous colloidal solution of the main binder so that this solution penetrates into the body of the solid billet. At stage (e), a cured billet is obtained, for which the impregnated billet is kept at a temperature that ensures freezing of an aqueous colloidal solution of the main binder. At stage (f), the target billet is obtained by drying the aged billet.

EFFECT: invention provides an increase in the mechanical strength and gas permeability of the filter element.
