SUBSTANCE: for each printed text of the transactions determine the length "L" of tape and set the working interval "n" of deflection number of reception coil position sensor through inequality L·k_min-1≤n≤L·k_max+n₀+1, where k_min and k_max - coefficients characterising number of sensor deflections during the tape movement per unit of length, n₀ - the deflections number of the sensor, characterising the angular displacement of reception coil. Check of the printer operation carried out by means of position sensor for winding of controlling roll after printing of the text, for this purpose drive of the reception coil is switched on and monitoring the sensor reading and presence of its deflection n during a cycle and-or from a cycle to cycle.

EFFECT: method increases the accuracy and reliability of fault detection.
