FIELD: quality control.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to quality control, particularly, to optical control of hairy surface. Proposed method consists in directing radiation beam (B) towards analysed surface (2) of wood part (1) along axis (D) that makes an angle with normal to the said surface. Surface image is produced with the help of camera (8), wherein image plane (9) is formed by several optoelectronic light-sensitive pixels. Surface image of wood part translating relative to the said camera is shot at preset intervals, each image being produced in digital form. Data of two consecutive electronic images are mutually subtracted to make a set of difference data correlating with pixels and describing analysed wood surface. The said difference data is used to determine variation in analysed surface roughness.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of control irrespective of surface texture and particular properties.
