FIELD: physics; acoustics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing audio signals and more specifically to a device and a method of decoding an audio signal. The decoding method comprises steps for receiving an audio signal using a spatial information signal, obtaining position information using a number of time intervals and audio signal parametres, establishing a multichannel audio signal by applying the spatial information signal to a reduction mixing signal and creating a multichannel matrix for the multichannel audio signal in response to the output signal.
EFFECT: more efficient compression and transmission of audio signals.
