FIELD: physics; image processing.

SUBSTANCE: intensified solid-state imaging device (41) includes a photocathode (54) for converting light from an image to electrons, an electronic multiplier (53) for receiving electrons from the photocathode and a solid-state image detector (56) which includes several pixels for receiving electrons from the electronic multiplier through several channels of the electronic multiplier. The solid state image detector generates an intense image signal from electrons received from the electronic multiplier. Several channels are placed in several channel images and several pixels are placed in several pixel images.

EFFECT: each of the several channel images is juxtaposed with the corresponding pixel image such that, electronic signals from each of the several channel pictures is virtually received by a single corresponding pixel image.
