FIELD: physics, computer engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for generating a signal in a computer system comprising several components. The technical result is achieved owing to that the method of generating a signal in a computer system comprises several components. Two components of the system are in form of at least two actuating units and one more component is a switching device through which the actuating units are connected to a bus in high output mode and to a comparator in comparison mode. The switching device of the computer system generates a mode signal which indicates the current operation mode of the system and/or changes to the mode signal, where at least changes to the mode signal and/or the mode signal itself are available outside the switching device. In the signal generation method, signals N140,…, N14n are transmitted from actuating units to component N100 for switching and comparison. Based on signals N140, …, N14n, component N100 generates output signals N160, …, N16n, where N150 is a mode signal and N170 is an error signal.

EFFECT: increased reliability of the method and signal generating device.
