FIELD: physics, nuclear.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recycling technology and can be used in recycling a large ship with a nuclear power unit. The object is prepared for recycling. Spent nuclear fuel is unloaded from the reactor, the bulkhead is cut and part of the equipment is unloaded. Further, the object is taken to a sinkable transportation vehicle, a reactor block is made and then mounted on the transportation vehicle using ropes and a ballast is attached to the object. The transportation vehicle together with the mounted reactor block is sunken while the recycled object remains floating. After that the recycled object is taken to a place where further recycling is carried out and the sunken transportation vehicle with the reactor block is raised, and the reactor block is prepared for prolonged storage.
EFFECT: use of the proposed invention reduces recycling expenses, avoids the need for using lifting apparatus, guides and simplifies strapping and lifting works.
