FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: method for pre-heating of reduced iron or briquettes of hot briquetted iron by flow of hot gas includes formation of reduced iron pellets or briquettes of hot briquetted iron, heating of gas in heat exchanger to temperature of pre-heating, and passage of hot gas via layer of reduced iron pellets or briquettes of hot briquetted iron. Besides gas flow rate is selected based on condition of hot gas temperature quick drop in relatively thin layer of reduced iron pellets or hot briquetted iron briquettes with provision of temperature front motion in process of heating through layer. For heating of reduced iron pellets average value of heating gas flow rate makes less than 6000 nm3/(hr×m2), or for heating of hot briquetted iron briquettes average value of heating gas flow rate makes less than 12000 nm3/(hr×m2).
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reuse gas for heating without its additional cooling with provision of high thermal efficiency.
