FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to systems of drying and heating electric and diesel locomotive motors (EDM) in cold weather. In compliance with proposed method, all motors of one section (driven) of two-section locomotive are switched into generator mode with load connected via short-circuited power circuit, while motors of the drive section are operated at standard conditions with load current not exceeding rated magnitude. Note here that self-excitation of motors switched into generator mode is performed by reversing polarity of series excitation windings. Proposed method comprises preventing standard motor cooling system by plugging suction branch pipes at diesel locomotives and by switching off fan motors at electric locomotives.
EFFECT: reduced costs and times of repair.
