FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed invention can be used in chemical industry in methionine production. Gas containing CO2 and methyl mercaptan is flushed in the following sequence: by water or by water containing methyl mercaptanion aldehyde dissolved at maximum possible extent, then by methyl mercaptanion aldehyde and, thereafter, by water. Purified gas containing carbon dioxide is returned into methionine production process.
EFFECT: ruling out carbon dioxide losses, purification of exhaust gases of harmful chemical compounds.
