FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to gas treatment aimed at gas withdrawal and can be used in metallurgy, primarily, for gas cooling and humidifying. Proposed scrubber comprises cylindrical housing, confuser, intake and discharge branch pipes, sprinkling system and hopper. Housing lower part accommodates intake branch pipe with its axis making acute angle varying from 30 to 60 degrees with the housing cylindrical surface axis. Hopper incorporates valve with counterweight and flushing branch pipe, drain channel and hydraulic gate with spillover and hatch. Scrubber top part accommodates sprinkling device consisting of sprinkling belts with auger nozzles. Water is fed to sprinkling belts via manifolds arranged outside the housing and representing pipeline connected with feed pipelines with control gate valves. Nozzles are connected to manifolds radially with certain spacing with the help of tubes. Length of said tubes is selected to allow housing cross section to be completely covered by nozzle spray cone. Every sprinkling belt incorporates 8 to 16 nozzles. Sprinkling is performed with the following spray cone direction: lower belt cones are directed upward, while upper belt cones are directed downward.
