FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: contraband in air transport containers is detected using an inspection device which has: a scanning system and a turning table which is mounted where the object is to be inspected and is designed for holding and rotating the inspected object, where the turning table is placed such that it can continuously rotate about its own axis or turn to any given angular position, and a scanning system placed around the turning table and designed for scanning the inspected object in order to obtain data necessary for constructing images, a radiation source and a detector which are arranged such that they can synchronously move vertically and continuously or to any given position on the vertical, where the inspection device functions in several operating modes for obtaining an image.
EFFECT: faster inspection of goods, possibility of inspecting relatively large air transport containers, as well as possibility of using different scanning modes for broadening modes of obtaining an image of the same goods.
