FIELD: mechanics.

SUBSTANCE: installation for detecting smuggled goods in aircraft cargo containers includes the following: turn table installed in the object inspection place and used for keeping the inspected object and for bringing it into rotation; scanning system which is arranged around turn table and used for scanning the inspected object in order to build pictures. At that, scanning system includes radiation source and detector; radiation source supporting structure on which a radiation source is installed, and detector supporting structure on which a detector is installed; at that, both radiation source supporting structure and detector supporting structure include at least one column assembly, and to each of such column assemblies there attached is radiation source and detector respectively so that they can be synchronously raised and lowered along those column assemblies; at that, detector supporting structure includes several column assemblies and, in addition, a cross beam connected to pairs of neighbouring lifting platforms of column assemblies; at that, detector is rigidly attached to cross beam and through that cross beam to lifting platform.

EFFECT: increasing inspection speed of inspected cargoes, providing the possibility of inspecting aircraft containers having comparatively large sizes, providing the possibility of using various scanning modes for extending the modes of receiving the picture of one and the same cargo.
