FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to chemistry of high-molecular compounds and describes a polyacrylonitrile synthesis method through polymerisation of acrylonitrile in the presence of a peroxide initiator at high temperature, where the peroxide initiator used is germinal bishydroperoxides of general formula: , where R1 = lower alkyl, R2 = H or methyl, R3 = H or lower alkyl, R4 = H or lower alkyl, or R1+R4=CH2CH2 or CH2C(R5R6)CH2, where R5 and R6 = H or methyl, in amount of 0.05-0.5 wt % of acrylonitrile and the process is carried out at 50-60 °C in the monomer mass.
