METHOD OF PREPARING POROUS HYDROXYAPATITE GRANULES Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC C04B35/447 C04B38/06 A61L27/12

Abstract RU 2395476 C1

FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical ceramic materials, and specifically for traumatology and reconstructive surgery, dentistry and to a system for delivering medicinal agents. The method of preparing porous hydroxyapatite granules involves obtaining hydroxyapatite from natural bone biomaterial through burning at 950-1000°C. The burnt material is ground to powder with particle size not greater than 35 mcm. A plastic mixture is then prepared, where the said mixture contains 1 pts. wt paraffin and 3 pts. wt hydroxyapatite powder. Granules are formed through extrusion and then undergo thermal treatment at 750-800°C. The plastic mixture is prepared from paraffin heated to melting point of 50-55°C. The bone biomaterial is then ground in bead mill for 45-50 hours. The plastic mixture is extruded through a matrix with cell size of 800-2000 mcm. The granules are thermally treated for 1-2 hours.

EFFECT: obtaining granular powder of natural hydroxyapatite with given granule size in a wide range from 0,8 mm to 2 mm, which have high bio-compatibility with living organisms which contain 100-350 mcm intragranular pores which are linked to each other and are in amount of 50-70 vol, %.
