FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing calcium alginate and can be used in different industries and medicine, particularly in pharmaceutical industry for making enterosorbents. Dry powder of alginic acid or its water-soluble salt is mixed with an aqueous calcium salt solution with concentration not less than 0.6 mol/l. The mixture is thoroughly stirred, held for at least 10 minutes and the obtained calcium alginate is separated from the aqueous phase (if formed), undergoes decantation, centrifugation or filtration and then dried.
EFFECT: simple method of producing sodium alginate.
