FIELD: chemistry; biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to biotechnology and is a method of producing (2S,3R,4S)-4-hydroxy-L-isoleucine or its salt, involving a step for reacting isoleucine in aqueous solution in the presence of bacteria which initially has L-isoleucine dioxygenase activity and 4-hydroxy-L-isoleucine dehydrogenase, and extraction of the synthesised (2S,3R,4S)-4-hydroxy-L-isoleucine. The said bacteria is modified such that 4-hydroxy-L-isoleucine dehydrogenase activity in the said bacteria is disrupted.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the method of producing (2S,3R,4S)-4-hydroxy-L-isoleucine.
