FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method of generating a current pulse for accelerating a liner with magnetic field of a pulsed source involves formation of the leading edge of a current pulse which acts on the liner through a current disconnector switch, and duration and trailing edge of a quasi-trapezoidal pulse are also formed at maximum current value of the pulsed source through a current interrupter which is connected in series in the electrical loop of the liner or through a contact-maker connected in parallel to the loop of the liner. The current interrupter or contact-maker is actuated with time lag which ensures the required current pulse duration in the liner for a trailing edge with the same duration as the leading edge.

EFFECT: formation given duration of an entire pulse and shape and duration of the trailing edge of a quasi-trapezoidal pulse.
