FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering and can be used in operation of nickel-hydrogen accumulator batteries (AB) in autonomous power supply systems (SEP) of spacecraft (SC), operating at low Earth orbit. In method of operating nickel-hydrogen batteries of power supply system of spacecraft, two or more batteries are cycled in charge-discharge mode, monitoring parameters of each battery (current capacity, voltage, temperature), introduction periodically, once every 6–9 months, prohibit charge for one of batteries to perform molding cycle. In proposed method, value of current capacity m of battery cells is also monitored based on output voltage m of analog pressure sensors installed inside these batteries, m<n, where n is number of accumulators in battery, and then form, for each battery, information sub-masses of BOT that are updated with given frequency and which contain its electrical characteristics, including variety of current values of battery voltage and output voltage of analog pressure sensors; on request from ground control complex, information sub-masses of SES are periodically sent to array of operational control information (IOC) for monitoring parameters of SES, while voltage unbalance of batteries is judged by difference between maximum and minimum values of battery voltages, and by capacitance – by magnitude of difference between output voltages of analog pressure sensors fixed in IOC array at the same time.
EFFECT: increase in reliability of operation of nickel-hydrogen AB by increasing their resource and, as consequence, duration of their regular operation.
