FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining the overlapping value of telescopic joint of upper path (1) with flange (3) of graphite column (4) of channel nuclear reactor involves action of constant magnetic field on telescopic joint, capture of response signal, fixing of points of maximum change of intensity as per it in the gap between poles of "П"-shaped magnet and overlapping limits of telescopic joint and further calculation of overlapping value. Method is implemented by means of the device made in the form of vertical movable measurement converter (7) axially located in process channel (5), electronic signal processing unit connected to it and to computer. Near poles of "П"-shaped magnet there located are magnetically sensitive material elements differentially connected and compensated on surface of homogeneous ferromagnetic medium.
EFFECT: improving accuracy of determining the overlapping value owing to eliminating the influence of electric conductivity both of ferromagnetic tubes of telescopic joint, and process channel with centring bushings.
