FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of bromobutyl rubber used in tyre and rubber industry for making bonded rubber linings of tubeless tyres, adhesive compositions, heat resistant belts and sealing compounds. The method is realised through treatment with a brominating agent in a medium of an inert hydrocarbon solvent. The method involves steps for neutralisation, washing, degassing the solution and drying bromobutyl rubber, as well as a step for recuperating bromine from the obtained aqueous solutions through oxidation of bromine compounds with molecular chlorine and extraction of the formed molecular bromine with a hydrocarbon solvent. The same hydrocarbon solvent is used at the bromination step and as an extraction agent during recuperation. Molecular chlorine is used without a solvent or in the same solvent. The aqueous solution formed during neutralisation and washing is taken to the recuperation step right away without treatment, and the process of oxidising bromine compounds is combined with the process of extracting molecular bromine.
EFFECT: invention simplifies the process while achieving 97-99% extraction of bromine from aqueous solutions.
