FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: reservoir 3 contains forehearth 67 for continuous tapping of melted metal from this reservoir. The forehearth has chamber 91 holding volume of melted metal with outlet port 93 for tapping melted metal from this chamber and open passage 97 running through a side wall of hearth into internal space of reservoir 3, thus communicating chamber 91 and internal space of reservoir 3. Open passage 97 moderates effect of rapid fluctuations of pressure in reservoir 3 to flow of melted metal into forehearth 67 and prevents undesirable slopping of metal from the forehearth. Also design of open passage 97 prevents melted metal freezing in the passage for at least 6 hours, when melted metal is not tapped from reservoir to the forehearth via the open passage.
EFFECT: raised operational reliability.
