FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemistry and metallurgy and can be used in producing hydrogen and/or carbon monoxide. Molten wastes of steel work, for example molten slag, are fed into reactor to come in contact with water and/or steam in the presence of reducing agent. Produced monoxide and other gases, e.g. carbon monoxide, are extracted from the flow. Molten slag represents one of the slags or mix thereof of desulphurisation in steel production, vessel slag in steel production, slag of ferrochromium or ferromanganese production in electric-arc furnace with fluxing stone.
EFFECT: use of foundry waste heat.
