FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and installation for synthesis of chlorine dioxide from chlorate of an alkali metal, acid and a reducing agent. Acid, alkali metal chlorate and reducing agent are fed into a reactor. The alkali metal chlorate reacts with the acid and the reducing agent to form a stream of product. The stream of product comes out of the reactor and is fed into an eductor where it is mixed with a fluid medium flowing into the eductor to form a stream of diluted product. The stream of diluted product is fed into a gas-liquid separator which enables feeding approximately 20-80% chlorine dioxide into the stream of the gaseous product. The stream of gaseous product comes out of the gas-liquid separator. The installation comprises a reactor with one or more inlets, an eductor connected to the reactor, a gas-liquid separator connected to the outlet of the eductor, and apparatus for outlet of the gaseous product from the gas-liquid separator.

EFFECT: invention provides a simple method for producing chlorine dioxide without excess amount of by-products in form of acid or salt.
