SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of 5-acetyl-2-pyrrole carboxylic acid methyl ether by reacting 2-acetylpyrrole with carbon tetrachloride and methanol in an autoclave in the presence of a iron-containing catalyst selected from a group comprising ferrocene (Fe(C5H5)2), tris(2,4-pentanedionato)iron (Fe(acac)3), iron bromide (FeBr2), iron acetate (Fe(CH3COO)2) in molar ratio [catalyst]:[2-acetylpyrrole]:[CCl4]:[methanol]=1:100:375-1500:3250-9750, at temperature 80-95°C for 3-6 hours.
