FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for synthesis of 1-acetylisoquinoline involves reaction of isoquinoline with CCl4 and ethanol in an autoclave under argon in the presence of an iron-containing catalyst selected from Fe(C5H5)2, FeBr2, Fe(acac)3, Fe(OAc)2, Fe(C10H7COO)3 at temperature 140-160°C for 3-10 hours in molar ratio [Fe(C5H5)2]:[isoquinoline]:[ethanol]:[CCl4]=[1]:[100]:[500-2000]:[200-1000].
EFFECT: novel single-step method for synthesis of 1-acetylisoquinoline, used as a starting compound in synthesis of biologically active compounds.
