FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: present invention refers to a tampon applied for female hygiene and/or medical purposes and having a longitudinal body supplied with a top-shaped input end and an output end with an extraction cord; basically, the tampon consists of a compressed absorbing fabric and has an external ring surface which is at least partially supplied with longitudinal grooves separated from each other by ribs. Particularly, the tampon is characterised by the fact that the grooves and ribs are longitudinally inclined to lie on a continuous curve with only one inflection describing one convex part and one concave part and preferably having no maximum and/or minimum.
EFFECT: creation of the tampon of improved configuration which is easily extracted from a compression device without considerable destruction of the shaped grooves and ribs.
