FIELD: chemistry; biochemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of determining bacteriostatic, bactericidal and stimulating effect of an antibiotic on a microorganism involves preparation of cultures of the analysed antibiotic in a culture medium and detecting growth of microorganisms. Determination can be carried out on 50 test microorganisms, simultaneously deposited on the surface of a solid culture medium with different concentrations of antibiotics. After incubation of inoculations, the diametre of grown colonies of the analysed cultures is measured and compared to that of control inoculations and the effect of the antibiotic is defined as bactericidal, bacteriostatic or stimulating if there is significant increase or reduction the diametre of colonies compared to the control diametre.
EFFECT: invention increases accuracy of qualitative and quantitative evaluation of bacteriostatic, bactericidal and stimulating effect of an antibiotic on microorganisms.
