FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in cleaning and heating surface of tool to temperature of saturation of high-speed powder steel, in ion nitriding in atmosphere of nitrogen or in nitrogen containing gas and in application of complex alloyed coating out of nitrides of refractory metals. Cleaning is performed with heating surface to 220-260°C. Surface of the tool is heated to temperature of saturation of high speed powder steel so, that it should not exceed temperature of steel annealing. After nitriding there is performed ion etching during 5-7 min. Ion-plasma treatment of the tool is carried out in a single process cycle.
EFFECT: upgraded hardness and wear resistance of cutting tool.
