FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in chemical industry. The 68-70% sulphuric acid to undergo concentration is fed into the cavity of a bottom ring 1. The turbulent current of flue gases rising in the space between a swirler 2 and the inner surface of a contact pipe 3 carries with itself a portion of sulphuric acid through the aperture over the tray 4. By moving up, the layer of concentrated acid is carried by centrifugal forces of the gas-liquid stream through tangential openings 5 on the wall of the connecting pipe in the cavity of the top ring 6. The height of the contact pipe 3 inside the top ring 6 is not less 5 mm more than the height of the swirler 2 on the path of the flue gases.
EFFECT: invention increases efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the acid concentration column and also prevents pollution of the environment with acid emissions.
