FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: wire spirals of the protector are wound in a pre-forming machine, twisted into a strand, fixed relative to each other in the produced strand with the soft wire, and glue with abrasive is applied onto inner and outer surfaces of the strand. Thicknesses of glue and abrasive layer applied at both sides of the protector strand are selected within the range of (0.15÷6.0). To make power strands, selected wires are joined into a bundle, the central part of the bundle wires are twisted with each other, and end sections of the bundle are formed into power strands of wire spirals, thus leaving inner and outer surfaces of the power strands without glue with abrasive; direction of the protector wire spirals winding is opposite to direction of the power strand wire spirals winding.
EFFECT: improved manufacturability due to application of less complicated and expensive equipment and simplification of gluing operations automation and improvement of labour conditions when manufacturing power strands.
