FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to fire-resistant double-glased windows. Intumescent material for fire-resistant glasing based on hydrated alkaline silicate is formed by adding aqueous dispersions of colloidal silica to solutions of alkaline silicate. Content of the colloidal silica is at least 20% of the total amount of silica. Atomic ratio of potassium relative all alkaline substances is greater than 4/1, and apparent Si/alkali molar ratio is greater than 3.5 and less than 10. The mixture of the said components is then deposited on a flat substrate in form of a layer and then dried, bringing the apparent content of water to a value not higher than 55%.
EFFECT: high ageing resistance of swelling layers and reduced turbidity of the article with time.
