FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of a zeolite adsorbent which is granulated without binder and which can be used to separate mixtures of hydrocarbons on a molecular level, for drying and cleaning gas, for removing metal cations and radionuclides from water streams. In order to produce metakaolin, the primary raw material - natural clay mineral kaolin - is first annealed at temperature 500-850°C for 1-8 hours. The crude mixture for moulding granules is prepared by mixing kaolin with powdered faujasite - zeolite X, metakaolin and starch in the following ratio in wt %: powdered faujasite 10-30, metakaolin 30-50, starch 1-2, kaolin - the rest. The mixture is moistened, stirred and granulated. The granules are dried, annealed and crystallised. The zeolite sorbent is washed and dried.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain high phase purity zeolite adsorbent of structure A and X which is granulated without binder and which has high mechanical strength and packed density.
