FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for synthesis of 1-bromoadamantane of formula (1) through catalytic bromation of adamantane. The bromation agent used is bromotrichloromethane in the presence of a Mo(CO)6 catalyst at temperature 140-160°C for 5-10 hours in molar ratio [adamantane]:[BrCCl3]Mo(CO)6=100:200-300:1-3.
EFFECT: simple technology of producing the end product and high output of the product.
