FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: procedure for preparation of flywheel to operation proceeds like follows: flywheel (3) is speeded up before beginning of operation to velocities when there occurs flexible increase of diametre of rim (5) and plastic deformation of disk (4). When external surface of rim (5) contacts brake coating (7) speedup of the flywheel is stopped. Rotating flywheel (3) is maintained at minimal gap (8) to completion of disk (4) plastic deformation, and then stopped. The procedure of flywheel operation consists in speeding up flywheel (3) installed in case (1) with gap (8), and when the flywheel contacts brake coating (7), torque transfer is stopped. Gap (8) is equal to increment of flywheel radius under condition of its flexible deformation safe for operation. The device for implementation of the above said procedures consists in an energy storage system including case (1), whereon flywheel (3) is mounted on bearings (2). Internal cylinder surface of case (1) has braking coating (7) and is made strictly concentric to external cylinder surface of rim (5) of flywheel. Controlled calibrated gap (8) is made between braking coating (7) and external cylinder surface of rim (5) of the flywheel.
EFFECT: increased energy output and safety of flywheel.
