FIELD: power industry.
SUBSTANCE: there described is preparation method of bimetallic catalyst for fuel elements of MAu/C composition, where M=Pd or Pt, with content of metals of 0.2 to 40 wt %, which consists in application of gold compound from water, organic or water-organic media to carbon carrier with further hydrogen reduction at temperature of 100 to 600°C and application to the obtained Au/C matrix of compound of the second metal with further calcination; at that, catalyst containing bimetallic Au and Pd or Au and Pt particles with average size of not more than 50 nm, preferably not more than 5 nm is obtained. There also described is method with reverse sequence of metal application. Use of the obtained catalysts in fuel elements with solid polymer electrolyte, which use hydrogen as fuel in which content of carbon monoxide can reach 2 vol %, is descried.
EFFECT: catalysts containing mainly fine-grained particles of hard alloys and having high catalytic activity in electrooxidation reaction of H2 contaminated with CO are obtained.
