FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: ice mapping method involves obtaining satellite images of ice floes, segmentation and interpretation of the images, mapping, performing interactive analysis and quantitative assessment, displaying the images in form of symbols where the symbols are presented as inner points of the ice floe, and coded digital values at a given point are defined as real plane coordinates of inner points directed towards the east and north respectively, and the shape of the equidistant lines between given points is determined from burst-decomposition coefficients for the given scale of the map. Characteristics of the underlying surface are determined by comparing the obtained cartographic images with the obtained images for the same season using equivalent equipment, where in contrast to analogues and prototype, points are detected on the ice floe with characteristics whose value exceeds the value of characteristics of the rest of the points; relative the detected points on the ice floes with characteristics whose value exceeds that of characteristics of the plurality of the rest of the points, the outline of the ice floe is restored according to the location of plurality of the rest of the points relative points with characteristics whose value exceeds that of said plurality of points, by constructing the Hausdorff metric and then obtaining clusters in accordance with the relationship between the length of perimeters of clusters and their surface area. Ice floes are displayed in accordance with a combinatorial display model, in the relationship between the length of parametres of clusters and their surface area, with separation of clusters on each theme ice floe on the density of the measured elements. Ice floes are generalised by constructing a numerical model under the condition that their surface area remains constant and the length of the ice floes making up the perimetre of the ice floe vary according to a power law.
EFFECT: high reliability of cartographic image of ice floes with scalable transfer thereof.
